Gerald Davidson Studio
"My mosaic creations are a fresh, bold, and contemporary interpretation of an ancient art form."

Gerald Davidson creates contemporary architectural and fine art mosaics using stained glass as his primary medium. His work is influenced by his travels, his African heritage, and his background in commercial art. He thrives on experimenting and exploring new ideas, and his work is continually evolving in style, technique, and materials.

Davidson follows basic traditional mosaic techniques but interprets them in a decidedly contemporary manner. All his work starts with a full color design concept which is then transferred onto a substrate. He then selects the stained glass according to the desired color palette, meticulously hand cuts each piece, then adheres the pieces to the substrate and completes the process by grouting.

Davidson initially trained as an apprentice textile designer in Zimbabwe. He subsequently trained as a graphic designer in England. His is self-taught in his current work as a mosaic artist.
