This "vegan taxidermy" wall art sculpture is completely made from clay. The bullseye moth symbolizes transformation and protection.

Handmade with porcelain and stoneware and fired to 2300 degrees, its surface cracks are created by using a special drying technique. Only a small amount of soda ash is added for a satin finish and to keep the process more eco-friendly. Minimal glaze is used as the artist prefers clay oxides/stains for colorant. Each piece is one-of-a-kind. Ready to hang.

Umami Pottery
"I am a ceramicist inspired by natural motifs, who strives to understand and depict the symbiotic relationships of our environment and the importance of its protection."

As a self-taught artist, intense research and a literal hands-on approach to the clay medium has been essential for Katharine Eksuzian. Her work is driven by a respect for nature and attention to intricate detail. With this in mind, Eksuzian strongly believes in hand sculpting each piece and utilizing atmospheric kilns to create unique and organic outcomes. Being an artist, there is always a need to create. Being able to do it in a way that has a positive impact is the true challenge and is the foundation of her work.
