Ruth Welter
When creating her plaster relief artwork, Ruth loves the connection that she has to nature and the plants and flowers that she uses. Growing, cutting and preparing the flowers for the relief process right through to casting, painting and finishing each piece, brings her a great sense of happiness.
Ruth's botanical bas relief nature sculptures are created when she gathers flowers from her home garden, prepares them, then rolls and presses them into clay, along with found objects as well. When the flowers are removed, a clay mold is created into which plaster is poured, then removed when dry. In about a week, each one-of-a-kind piece is sanded, painted and finished
Ruth started out by taking pottery lessons which then grew into art and painting classes. At the same time, she bought her first home and discovered a love of gardening. Over time, her artwork has evolved into the best of all she loves to create with clay, flowers and hand painted special pieces. Her evolution has come full circle, and today, combines all her loves.
