An original woodcut, printed over chine colle papers that are adhered with archival paste to a base sheet of white heavy paper. Each paper used in the process is acid free as well as the ink and the paste. The chine colle process is an old technique of collaging to a base sheet and then overprinting with an etching or relief print such as woodcut. The technique is challenging and has been developed over the course of 6 years concentration in my studio. Care should be taken to keep the woodcut print flat in storing, shipping or the framing process. This piece is unframed. Packed carefully in a flat box for shipping.

Ouida Touchon

"Art is complicated. My own art is a bifurcated passion. One limb is socially conscious narratives about strong women and what strong women wear, and the other is a pure addiction to the scintillation of the observed, the beauty I see and then interpret in a graphic response. More than a printmaker or painter, I think of myself as a maker of images."

Ouida Touchon enjoys working at the press as well as teaching printmaking at colleges and studio workshops. It’s one of those things that allows her to dive deep into process—carving, inking, and printing assorted images. She dwells in print traditions that date back to the 15th century and brings hery own sensibility to each image, always with a mind for beauty and composition.
