Jim Thellefsen

"I create from what bubbles to the surface in my mind. When I see compelling imagery in a world filled with such diversity, I consider how to use it intact, change it in subtle ways or completely turn it inside out."

Jim Thellefsen comes from a career in graphic design. Some of those design principles and aesthetics are now being incorporated into his work. His grandfather, father, and uncle worked with wood in some capacity, so an early interest was born.

Because of the limited choices in domestic wood, Thellefsen developed an interest in veneering with exotic wood species in combination with hard woods. This allows for a particular design to be offered in a variety of wood species.

He is totally self-taught. He asked peers, read, watched videos, and observed the surrounding world for inspiration.
