Across cultures and across centuries, the white feather has been understood as one of the most tender and unmistakable signs from those who have crossed to the other side of the veil. A reassurance from the ancestors. A whisper from a beloved who is gone but not absent. A reminder that love does not end at death, it simply changes form, the way a feather detaches from the wing not to be lost but to travel further than it ever could have otherwise.

These one-of-a-kind earrings are made in cloisonné, one of the oldest and most revered enameling traditions in the world, in which fine wire is bent into delicate shapes and filled with hand-applied enamel colors, built up layer by careful layer until the surface glows with depth and dimension. Each feather is white at its heart, shaded with the softest touches of gold, warm gray, and pale blue.

The cloisonné feathers are prong set in oxidized sterling silver, the dark patina of the oxidized metal making the luminous white enamel glow even more brilliantly against it, the way a feather glows against dark earth when you find it waiting for you. They hang from argentium silver ear wires, that exceptional modern precious metal prized for its tarnish resistance, brilliant white luster, and hypoallergenic properties.

Evolution would be the best word to describe how Laura works. Her background is in illustration and painting. She has explored ceramic sculpture and was known for many years for the figurative jewelry incorporating porcelain sculpture with metal work. Laura's progression into enamel work seemed inevitable. She is always looking for new ways to express herself through her art.

Laura uses traditional metalsmith techniques including manipulating metal with hammers, fire, cutting, and soldering. Her experimentations with enamel and her love for rough stones and found objects keep Laura's work fresh and surprising.

Laura is mostly self-taught, however she attends a variety of workshops to expand her artistic vocabulary.
