Johnathan Harris Fine Art
"Creating artwork is my passion, a refuge from the modern world, a time for me to reflect and express, an absolute necessity for me to feel complete. Very early in my life, I discovered my passion for art. After visiting the American Southwest at a young age, the beauty and charm of this regions landscape captivated me and soon became the subject matter for my paintings. "

Art is a tranquil retreat for Harris. He has always been captivated by landscapes and nature and after visiting the southwest as a child. Capturing the vibrancy of the landscape around him became the driving force behind his work. Harris creates art because it is the only thing that makes him feel complete and alive.

His creative process starts with exploring different geographical areas where he takes hundreds of detailed photographs of interesting or visually striking scenery that leads to a great composition. The process ends in the studio where the sketching and painting takes place. He begins by referencing the photos for layout and composition and then lets his emotions determine the use of color.

He is a self taught artist who has been painting for as long as he can remember. He has traveled to several states and countries to explore the landscapes and allow himself to be influenced and inspired by those landscapes. He took several art classes while attending university, but his true training came from painting for years to put on canvas what he feels while in the midst of nature.
