She works in a variety of media, including printmaking, collage, oils, and pastels, and depicts a wide range of subjects from people and animals to architecture and nature. In her mixed-media work, Feder interweaves oil and acrylic pigments, torn papers, and fibers with a varnish mixture, all while scraping and reworking the canvas. Her series of glazed oils on gesso hardboard glow with richly layered colors. In her etchings, she combines traditional printmaking techniques with hand-painted color to create uniquely beautiful pieces.
Penny Feder graduated with a BA in art education and an MA in printmaking. An award winner in national and international competitions, Feder has exhibited in solo and group shows in the USA and Europe. Her work can be found in many private, public, and corporate collections, including the US State Department and the Smithsonian Institute. Her work has also been featured in several network television shows, including Roseanne and Melrose Place.
