The park that inspired this acrylic gouache painting was deigned by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead, who believed nature is for all. That thought still holds true today. This original painting is executed with acrylic gouache paint, a medium well suited for Yarrow's detailed style. The substrate is Ampersand "aqua-bord," a museum quality archival support. The image is varnished with an environmentally friendly matte finish.

Wynn Yarrow's landscapes are metaphors for the inner life. Clouds, though ephemeral, yield tremendous power. They represent the possibility of swift transformation. Night is a veiled realm, one that relies on memory, insight and imagination.

Wynn works in gouache (opaque watercolor) and matte acrylic mixed with a medium prepared by hand.

Trained in architecture, Wynn worked briefly in the design professions and then pursued fine art as a lifelong career. Wynn's continuing studies have been at Penland School of Crafts, NC, Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, MD, Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University, NY and John C. Campbell Folk School, NC.

Scale/Size: larger than expected
Just Summer

The height of the Medium is 10.5 inches, not 9.5 inches, and that one inch makes a difference in the space I had hoped to hang it. I wouldn't have ordered it had I known the height is 10.5 inches. Except for that flaw, I like the picture very much. It's light and summery looking.

Beautiful Piece.

Came quickly. The colors were vibrant and the image was true to size. The size is representative of the image size and not the paper size. The white boarder around the art meant the paper was larger than the size ordered. Which made it easy to frame.
