The title "Kaiju" is a reference to Japanese movie monsters. For many years as a studio photographer, Tim Forcade dreamed of transforming his physical photo studio into a 3D virtual studio. He imagined that such a move would provide numerous advantages that added up to having no limits whatsoever – which turned out to be true. He now creates captivating computer-generated imagery using a virtual studio, which provides limitless possibilities for cameras, lenses, and lighting. Once he’s chosen the composition, Forcade applies numerous interactive digital techniques to transform the image.

Pigment-printed on museum-grade paper using an Epson 8-color printer with Epson Ultra Chrome K3 archival inks to maximize longevity and color detail. Limited edition of 25, signed and numbered by the artist.

Please note that these prints are unframed and shipped to you rolled in a heavy sealed tube. The artist suggests framing using acid-free museum-grade materials and UV filtering glass to preserve print quality.

"I work to suspend the viewer, however briefly, in the spectacular uncertainty that appears as I view the world."

People often mistake Tim Forcade's abstract photographs for paintings. He was trained as and thinks like a painter, using color and form like a painter and operating the camera as if it were an instrument of pure vision like the eye itself. His use of cameras developed as an effective way to capture the fleeting, random, and unpredictable in natural subjects.

Long immersed in all aspects of studio and location photography, Forcade is a relentless technician who composes each shot in camera, never cropping. He refines each image, painstakingly working with space, form, and color through intricate masks and subtle image adjustments. His archival pigment prints on 100 lb. rag paper and other materials are available at various sizes up to 60" x 90".

Forcade received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Kansas in 1970. His forty years' work as a professional studio, location, and fine art photographer has taken him around the world working for a diverse client list, shooting everything from designer fashions and gourmet foods to industrial locations and exotic orchids.

"These pictures have a quality of being painstakingly assembled rather than simply photographed. These are not the works of a 20-something who stumbled onto a revelatory vision. Rather, Tim Forcade, after an odyssey extending through lights, motors, cameras and computers has created his own vision by infusing art and technology with his ongoing spectacular uncertainties." -- Don Lambert, writer, curator, and arts advocate
