Wolfgang Gersch
Artist Wolfgang Gersch paints works that explore the hidden inner dimensions of the world we live in. Concerned with the life forces and energies that move and create everything we can see, Gersch paints his inner visions, which come to him in meditations or while communing with nature.
Gersch works on canvas or panels, creating a style of painting with textural materials, acrylic gels, acrylic paints, metallic pigments, and glazes. These textures create a unique visual quality and enhance the luminescence of the acrylic paints and glazes. The metallic pigments give the illusion of solid metal surfaces. The colors and textures shift and change when seen from different angles.
Gersch received a fine arts master's degree from the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts in 1978. He was a young, active artist in Berlin between 1970 and 1980 before moving to San Francisco, where he lived and worked for 20 years. In 2000, he became a resident of Santa Fe, where he currently has his home and studios. His color sense and the technical and creative excellence of his work is enjoyed by a large sector of the public.
