"I live in the midst of an enchanted landscape where nature is my inspiration. There, I find beauty in abundance: varied, complex, sublime. Rather than copy it, I study it and breathe in its brilliance. Then, I create a painting that tells a most beautiful story. "

Jane Troup's paintings radiate with color. Her style is decorative, stylized, on the edge of surrealism. This combination creates a unique, mysterious, feminine image. Not only does she infuse her paintings with nature's radiance, but by pairing familiar objects with surreal forms, she challenges the viewer to see the world through her eyes, to reinterpret the everyday, to embrace the spiritual, and to revel in glorious color.

Fluent with oils, acrylics, and gouache, Troup creates paintings that are richly built up in many layers. She creates a beautiful narrative with an illusion of 3-D space, which draws the viewer into her world. Troup approaches her work like a sculptor or set designer, visualizing every form in three dimensions before she paints it.

Jane Troup grew up in the mountains of Pennsylvania where she remembers her best moments exploring the woods, hills, ponds, and creeks and collecting leaves, bones, mosses, and rocks. She moved to the urban metropolis to attend art college, then continued her education in Washington, D.C. by going to museums and galleries and developing friendships with other artists. Today, she lives in an enchanted landscape in the Ozark mountains of southwestern Missouri. Her studio is perched on a tall hill, and through her windows are vistas of rolling hills covered with mysterious forests and open fields.

I smile every time I look at it.

The brown and white dog on the right in the group of three dogs looks like our dog Como. "Dog Park III" hangs in my office and I can de-stress just by looking at it. Love the colors; the green reminds me of springtime. Would love to see our Yorkie in a Dog Park picture too!

Poodle Heaven

I bought this as a companion piece for Dog Park I -- will undoubtably purchase Dog Park II also, but this one has more poodles.

Love the expressions of the two large poodles -- so self-assured; so smug!

Bailey Forever....

My dog, Bailey, is the white boxer, who sits in a noble fashion with his
canine friends.
Now that Bailey has passed, the print has become a tribute to him, and a great comfort for us to remember him by.

The details of the print are even more exquisite in person. It sits in a simple black metal frame.

High quality giclee!

Jane Troup's work creates a focal point of interest in the room offset by a simple black wooden frame. Beautiful quality with intense coloration. On my print, a red-beleveled matt draws attention the center dog with the red frisbee who just happens to be my eldest daughter's border collie, Maybe.
Wonderful addition to my collection.
