Sally Craig has been making jewelry for over twenty years. She has always related jewelry-making to completing a puzzle. She enjoys the process of taking the vision in her head, figuring out the necessary materials, taking them in hand, and producing the final product.
Sally's primary technique involves weaving or wrapping the weft of 30g 22k gold or fine silver wire around the warp of 20g sterling silver wire in such a way as to produce different patterns. The pattern or texture the weaving creates is greatly magnified by oxidizing the pieces, which creates the dramatic black and gold results.
Sally is a graduate of Skidmore College and the University of Washington. It was in Seattle that she studied with Mary Lee Hu, who introduced her to the wire working techniques that have so greatly influenced her work.
