" My work is influenced by old-world textures and details yet always with the desire to keep a contemporary edge. I find beauty in the imperfect, tactile nature of an object that has been handmade. Raw edges, hammer and file marks- these are the signature of the maker and a timeline of the process. "

Austin Titus is a jewelry designer from Richmond, Virginia. She finds beautiful juxtaposition between the industrial elements of living in a historical city contrasted with the natural world around her. When she is not in her studio she enjoys walking the city streets with her dog, Lola.

ATS jewelry is handcrafted in small batches using silver, gold, and array of semi-precious stones selected for color character and even imperfections. Her most recent Rim Collection consists of designs that include the ancient Korean technique keum-boo which is the process of fusing 24k gold onto fine silver.

While attending Virginia Commonwealth University in the early 1990s, Titus found that formal schooling wasn't in her constitution. After leaving school to live on a remote island in the Pacific Northwest for several years, she returned to Richmond, took various classes from artists she respected, and finally got serious about starting her business.
