Each of these pillows is a work of art, hand-dyed in the ancient Japanese shibori tradition and displaying variations of an expressive "Inkblot" pattern.

The silk velvet face is cut and folded by hand before being dipped repeatedly in indigo—each immersion building toward a rich, luminous blue—then oxidized, set, hand-washed, and dried. Backed in gray linen and filled with a locally-made down insert, every pillow is sustainably hand-dyed and sewn.

Available in lumbar or standard size.
  • Includes down pillow insert
  • Invisible zipper closure
  • Materials: Silk, Linen

Jacqueline Rousseau

ROUSSEAU
"I create exquisite hand dyed pieces, largely inspired by the sky above New York City. I look out for cloud patterns and watch the changing light throughout the day. These shapes and colors inform how I apply dye to the fabric and how I create fold patterns for the shibori pieces."

ROUSSEAU is a bespoke interiors brand based in New York City. Jacqueline's love of textiles and bold color shapes the line of hand-dyed pillows, table linens, and throws. Inspiration comes from dressmaking fabrics, vintage paint charts, and cloud patterns.

Each piece is custom produced in a small batch, hand dyed, and locally produced. Recent collections feature Jacqueline's hand dyed patterns translated into prints, for throws and fabrics. Jacqueline's design philosophy is to develop a collection that keeps evolving, rather than starting with a clean slate every season. Producing micro-batch textiles aligns with Jacqueline's value of slow fashion.

Jacqueline launched her label after more than a decade designing womenswear in both London and New York. As the years went on, she realized how much she was drawn to surface pattern design, including hand dyeing and hand printing. Her brand was born out of a desire to work with textiles, namely hand dyeing, full-time to create modern heirlooms for the home.
