"I’ve been asked whether my designs are tedious to complete. They can be at times, but on the other hand, it’s a noisy world, and for me, beading is blissfully meditative. I enjoy the contemplative aspects of weaving, and the time-consuming, repetitive nature of the work lets me fully immerse myself in the creative process."

Ferguson employs a variety of off-loom bead weaving techniques in her work, from Peyote Stitch to Square Stitch and beyond. An intuitive designer, she allows color and pattern to unfold into the finished object. While the end result of her efforts may remain in play until the piece announces itself done, she is certain the outcome will contain beauty! She is fascinated with beads as structural elements and is inspired by the multitude of colors, shapes, and textures available to work with. Diana fashions her designs using needle, monofilament thread, and beads fashioned from glass, ceramic, and semi-precious stones.
Diana has a B.A. in Art and is a self-taught jewelry artist. She enjoys reading about art and individual artists, finding it inspires her to push harder in her own studio practice.
