At the crown of this pendant, a hand-carved pearl skull glows with a soft luster, its eye sockets accented with faceted black spinel and a deep red garnet bead below. Resting atop the skull is a crown set with three faceted hessonite garnets, rich and warm as embers.

Measuring approximately 3" long by 2.25" wide, the pendant features a jointed construction that creates graceful movement with every wear. It hangs from an 18" oxidized sterling silver chain adorned with rutile quartz, carnelian, opal, and garnet beads, and is finished with a secure lobster clasp. The darkened silver settings enhance the contrast and drama of the design, making every detail shine. A striking piece that celebrates transformation, resilience, and beauty.

"My current body of work is a marriage of elegance and the unexpected. The contemporary movement of the metalwork is in sharp contrast to the primitive elements of rough stones and enamels."

Evolution would be the best word to describe how Laura works. Her background is in illustration and painting. She has explored ceramic sculpture and was known for many years for the figurative jewelry incorporating porcelain sculpture with metal work. Laura's progression into enamel work seemed inevitable. She is always looking for new ways to express herself through her art.

Laura uses traditional metalsmith techniques including manipulating metal with hammers, fire, cutting, and soldering. Her experimentations with enamel and her love for rough stones and found objects keep Laura's work fresh and surprising.

Laura is mostly self-taught, however she attends a variety of workshops to expand her artistic vocabulary.
