"I am interested in past, present and future. I like to use objects from the past to represent present feelings, ideas and connections to viewers seeing my work in the future."

Tiffany Ownbey is interested in connections and the ways humans interact. She depicts everyday situations with familiar materials that request viewers take a more in-depth look at the elements combined to form her papier-mache sculpture and collage

She makes papier-mache sculpture and collage. The primary ingredients in every piece are vintage sewing patterns. She mixes antiques dismantled books, old food and cigar labels, paper dolls, stamps, maps, paint, ink drawings, wood, wire, and many other various vintage found papers and parts to create each unique piece.

Ownbey knew at five years old that she wanted to be an artist. Papier mache became her favorite medium just a few years after she made that declaration. She attended several art programs during her 20's: SCAD, Penland, and others. At each institution she found something instructive and positive, focusing on clay and printmaking while in school and papier mache when she wasn't in class.
