The artist has developed a technique of laminating oxidized sterling silver wires between layers of acid free paper using a bookbinding glue. Petal shapes are created this way and then sprayed with an acrylic. When they dry they are stiff and are hand formed into three dimensional forms. They are assembled with 6mm faceted hematite beads and drop below to a hammered sterling leaf shape with a post on the back. The leaf is stamped with the artist's name and sterling. Additionally, she signed the back of a petal on each earring with her name and the year made.

Sterling silver posts.

Carol Windsor

"With my work, I hope to evoke an appreciation of the beauty and preciousness of life."

Carol Windsor has developed a technique of laminating oxidized sterling silver wire between layers of very thin acid-free paper. The oxidized wire shows through the translucent paper like veins in a leaf or petal. The connecting 'twigs' are textured, oxidized, then dimpled with a burr to suggest the spot where a branch has broken off. When worn, the pieces softly rustle, almost like leaves. Windsor's intent is that the organic materials, forms, and auditory elements will suggest the fragility of life and the preciousness of the moment.
