Soft fabric beads are stitched with kantha embroidery, and filled with lightweight cotton batting, creating a necklace that is both bold and fun. Silk cord has glass beads on the ends allowing the necklace to be convertible from a choker to 36" long. Each is unique. Bead colors and patterns will vary.

Born in southern Japan, Mieko Mintz uses handcrafted textiles from around the world to make contemporary pieces. Her signature line includes jackets made from vintage sari kantha, each with its own variety of colors and its own story.

Mintz's work follows in the kantha tradition. First, her designs are made into kantha throws in West Bengal, which she then cuts to fit her jacket designs. Her focus is a kantha line that is not only comfortable, but also contemporary and sophisticated.

Cuttings left over from making the jackets are recycled one more time to create hats, bags, and jewelry.

I Love It

This is one of three necklaces I own made by this talented artist. It's exceeding lightweight, yet it makes a big statement. It can also be made longer or shorter. This one happens to be in "my" color palette, but it's also offered in one or more totally different color combination.

Another Beauty

I already own seven of these unique necklaces and always receive compliments whenever I'm wearing one. I needed something to wear with a purple linen dress, so naturally I ordered from Artful Home. This is my first adjustable version of the Kantha style, and although I prefer the full beaded version, I'm happy with the beautiful colors included on this one. Since I don't often wear this color, the sale price encouraged me to take a chance and order it. Glad I did as the quality and artistic design of this necklace makes this one another favorite. Think I'll buy more purple to showcase it more often! As always, I appreciate the cotton storage pouch and the handwritten note from Ms. Mintz.
