Mieko Mintz
Born in southern Japan, Mieko Mintz uses handcrafted textiles from around the world to make contemporary pieces. Her signature line includes jackets made from vintage sari kantha, each with its own variety of colors and its own story.
Mintz's work follows in the kantha tradition. First, her designs are made into kantha throws in West Bengal, which she then cuts to fit her jacket designs. Her focus is a kantha line that is not only comfortable, but also contemporary and sophisticated.
Cuttings left over from making the jackets are recycled one more time to create hats, bags, and jewelry.

So different this silk material necklace!
I would have liked it a bit shorter because I am shorter but it is lightweight and beautiful.
I thought necklace would have more silk sheen like an earlier purchase did. Colors are as pictured, and soft necklace very comfortable.
The red is great! Very light in weight and that's nice . It is easy to wear. Came in a nice gift bag! That added to it being unique.
Since I love and wear a lot of blacks, reds, and whites, this necklace embellishes all those colors. My clothes are simply lined and need an attractive piece like this to set them off. I love it, and am partial to Japanese design from the time (2 years) we spent there.
The colors chosen for the silk necklace are perfectly lovely. Great reds for Christmas. The workmanship is outstanding. This necklace will get many compliments I'm sure.
