Liz Hanson

"Designing comfortable jewelry that demonstrates both a contemporary flare and a knowledge of the craft is my passion. Working primarily with sterling silver, my goal with every new design is to give a voice to the artist inside of all women. I believe by empowering the woman wearing the jewelry to shine, we move the needle to a more creative world. "

Liz Hanson's jewelry is meant to be a compliment to the woman wearing it, a visual distillation of the essence that is already there. It is decidedly bold, with weights and textures that refuse to take a back seat, while being uncompromisingly wearable, comfortably enhancing any outfit. Hanson studied Minimalism in visual art, and simplicity of form and shape has always been her trademark.

Hanson's cast collection is an exploration of minimalism. Each individual component and piece is first hand-carved from wax, a process that sometimes takes days and lends her metal-smithing a true sculptural element. From this process, the handmade chain has a beautiful, organic irregularity that calls upon nature and femininity.

Hanson received her BA at Ithaca College in Art History. She has studied primarily at Penland School of Craft, taking 12 courses over the last 8 years ranging in topic from metal forming, wax carving, and casting, engraving, jewelry design, and gold smithing, among others. Her artist career is grounded in curiosity, so her work is always evolving as she continues to add techniques to her arsenal.
