"Our environment influences our sense of self, our contentment, our happiness. Living in surroundings with things that are beautiful should be possible for all. Handcrafted items have a special energy because they are created by an artisan just for you. I enjoy creating artwork in the hopes that it will help people feel positive about themselves and, in turn, create a more beautiful world."

Born and raised in Woodstock, NY, Mary knew that she wanted to become an artist. She had the privilege of studying with many Woodstock painters. In her late twenties, she was introduced to metalsmithing which moved her to the exciting opportunity of creating three-dimensional art. Working in her studio is her passion. Painting, making jewelry and tableware is her meditation. Every day is exciting.

Her introduction to metalsmithing was wax sculpture which would then be cast in metal (lost wax). She soon learned to fabricate pieces working directly in silver and gold. Synclastic and anticlastic forming at Penland with master Heikki Seppa opened new doors. She employs many techniques in her work and particularly enjoys incorporating beautiful gemstones in her designs.

Mary's training was in commercial and fine art. She has been a painter most of her life, now working exclusively in oil. Retail craft fairs and then wholesale shows led her to create a wholesale jewelry and tableware line which she continues. Her painting style is reflected in her designs and her travels to many foreign countries have been important influences in both her painting, tableware, and jewelry.
