Shane Dorey
Dorey Glass Design
Dorey’s glass sculptures explore the intersection of nature’s design and the artist’s curiosity. Rooted in close observation, his work captures the vivid colors, intricate patterns, and organic flow of living forms. Through a blend of meticulous detail and the fluid motion of molten glass, Shane creates pieces that feel both precise and alive.
Shane Dorey works from a 2,000-degree furnace, combining a strong foundation in traditional glassblowing with a highly sculptural, illustrative approach. Each piece is shaped entirely by hand, using a wide range of specialized tools to guide the molten glass from broad, sweeping forms to intricate, lifelike details. Shane builds his vivid surfaces by layering colored glass frits and powders.
For twenty years, Shane Dorey has been immersed in the art of glass. In 2020, Shane established his own private studio, where he has since focused on creating and refining his signature designs. His work has been recognized with an award from the Providence Art Club and has been exhibited at the Wickford Art Festival, Paradise City Arts Festival, and ArtRider shows.
