Olivia Shih

"Trained as a writer and artist, I translate emotion into jewelry."

Olivia Shih is a jeweler, educator, and writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Born in the US to immigrant parents and raised on the subtropical island of Talwan, she is an avid observer of human behavior and nuances. In addition to running her jewelry studio, she teaches at the California College of the Arts and is the assistant editor at Metalsmith magazine.

Olivia begins her design process by crafting a singular emotion into a narrative of precious metals and gemstones, vulnerability and strength. By hand carving wax and stone, then manipulating metal with fire, the introverted jeweler brings a quiet and thoughtful approach to jewelry.

Olivia believes in conscious consumption and slow craft, so all collections are made with eco-friendly studio practices and ethically sourced materials when possible.
