"Art is a room in one's mind. As an artist I offer a key from my pocket and a finger across my lips. Take that key and step in."

Walking through downtown Denver's comfortable urban vibe, Katharine McGuinness arrives at her studio each morning, With the city sidewalk, people and sounds just outside her door, she mixes lithography inks to a full palette. Delicious colors become abstract feelings, memories and thoughts, composing color and shapes in a private world of play and balance, with the intent of sharing with others.

Katharine McGuinness "paints" with rollers large and small to create with her own hand a composition which is sent through her intaglio press to press the ink into the paper. There is no edition resulting from this technique, every multi-layered piece is unique.

With training from the University of the Arts Philadelphia, the Brooklyn Museum School, Metropolitan State University, and a BFA from the University of Colorado, Katharine McGuinness maintains a studio in Denver, CO. She has work in public and corporate spaces along with private residential collections throughout the country.
