Diana Ferguson
Diana Ferguson finds the process of beading deeply fulfilling. In a world that often feels chaotic, beading serves as a meditative outlet; the repetitive and time-consuming nature of weaving allows her to fully immerse herself in the creative process, fostering a sense of peace and tranquility. She views her jewelry as a form of artistic expression and a means of connecting with others. Her designs aim to blend comfort, style, and a touch of playful individuality. The creative exploration and experimentation inherent in the process result in unique pieces that function as art, fashion statements, and personal expressions. Ferguson endeavors to create work that resonates with her customers, focusing on uniqueness, quality, ease of wear, and versatility. She finds peace and enjoyment in the traditional art of bead weaving, immersing herself in the rhythmic movement of the needle and thread. At the same time, she remains intellectually intrigued with contemporizing these techniques.
Ferguson employs a variety of off-loom bead weaving techniques in her work, from Peyote Stitch to Square Stitch and beyond. An intuitive designer, she allows color and pattern to unfold into the finished object. While the end result of her efforts may remain in play until the piece announces itself done, she is certain the outcome will contain beauty! She is fascinated with beads as structural elements and is inspired by the multitude of colors, shapes, and textures available to work with. Diana fashions her designs using needle, monofilament thread, and beads fashioned from glass, ceramic, and semi-precious stones.
She has a B.A. in Art and is a self-taught jewelry artist. She enjoys reading about art and individual artists, finding it inspires her to push harder in her own studio practice.
