Desmond Suarez
"I handcraft every piece to reflect the God-given natural beauty of the select Appalachian hardwoods I use. Timeless original designs, traditional joinery, functionality, and meticulous, hand-rubbed finishes ensure heirloom quality."

Desmond Suarez believes that attention to detail in design, craftsmanship, and finish is an essential component of his work. His work is inspired by the functional beauty of the Arts and Crafts movement as well as Shaker, Scandinavian, and Japanese designs.

Suarez uses traditional joinery techniques (including mortise and tenon, pegged joinery, and dovetails) to make the strongest pieces possible. He uses select kiln-dried Appalachian hardwoods. He also spends much time on a detailed hand-rubbed oil finish, which makes his work as tactilely pleasant as it is aesthetically beautiful.

Desmond Suarez is a second-generation furniture designer and maker who grew up in a home resplendent with design and craftsmanship. His mother designed homes and furniture, and he worked with his father in his furniture and cabinet shops. His formal education was earned in North Carolina, England, and Tennessee, where he earned degrees in art, history, religion, and education. He worked for twenty years as a commercial furniture designer before founding his own studio.

Beautiful craftsmanship

Very pleased with my purchase. The clock is well designed and beautifully crafted.
Shipping packaging was secure and I could smell the natural wood as I opened it up.
Highly recommend.

Actually hard to tell time! Noisy!!

This is a beautiful, handmade clock, with many features that I value. I love pendulums, and I think this is a simple, modern design. However, I feel it has some flaws. First, the black line down the center of the clock actually makes it impossible to see the hands when they are at the 6 and 12 o'clock position. Second, the pendulum mechanism makes a low but significant grinding noise which gets annoying. I can hear it from 20 feet away! I've kept this piece, but I can't say I love it. I do like it.

Beautifully made

I was looking for a pendulum wall clock for the bottom of my stair landing. I wanted the motion if the pendulum to draw you downstairs into our newly finished lower level. This beautiful clock was just what was needed. Came exactly as pictured.

Love it but...

This is a beautiful clock. I've been searching online for at least a year. Knew it was "the one" the second I saw it. So well-made and it looks great on our wall.

One "but". Having the black line down the middle AND having the hands black as well makes it just a little hard to instantly tell the time. I was happy to see it included a second hand (which I missed when I ordered it) but it's a little difficult sorting out the "four black lines". Maybe make the black line the same color as the frame?
