Delia Lopez
Domo Fine Furniture
Delia Lopez was drawn to woodworking because it embodied the full spectrum of creativity and analytical thinking. It challenged her to solve problems, balance precision with artistry and engage both mind and hands. The craft requires thinking critically and designing with intention while also allowing for spontaneity and graceful communication with the material as it transformed.
Delia blends the precision of vintage machinery with the art of hand tools to shape each creation. Sandpaper unveils the wood's subtle sheen, and oils bring forth its rich, natural colors. Working mainly with walnut and other local wood sourced sustainably from Milwaukee's fallen trees, she transforms raw elements into creations that balance heritage with environmental mindfulness.
Delia Lopez studied at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2003 and later served as adjunct faculty in furniture. In 2018 she moved to Atlanta, where she was a board member and educator at MASS Collective and a shop assistant at Hancock Fine Furniture. She then moved to England to refine her skills at Waters and Acland Furniture School. She now resides and creates in Milwaukee.
