This charming cherry wood hall table features cherry blossom marquetry on three of its sides. The cherry blossom motif consists of maple, bloodwood, and fumed oak veneers which are drawn, cut, and assembled by hand. There is a delicate walnut bead under the table aprons which frames the cherry blossom images, and the legs are shaped by hand with a graceful curve along all four faces which imitates the shape of the branches of the cherry blossom tree. An exquisite work finished with hand-rubbed oil varnish and wax.

M. Jury Woodworks
"I design and build hardwood furniture and decorative woodwork inspired by Shaker, Japanese, and Danish design. My work is elegant in its graceful proportions, heirloom construction and subtle ornamentation."

Michael's furniture is inspired by Shaker, Japanese, and Danish designs which have a common theme of clean lines, minimal ornamentation, and a reverence for the natural materials used to create the work. He often includes kumiko in his furniture which is a traditional Japanese craft composed of countless pieces of wood hand-cut to create beautiful geometric patterns.

Michael employs furniture making techniques that have been in use for centuries. Carfeful consideration is given to grain selection and color. Mortise and tenon joints and dovetails are the structural elements that hold it all together. When appropriate, the hand-cut joinery is left exposed as evidence of honest construction.

Michael's professional training is in the performance of classical music and he is a self-taught furniture maker. He applies the passion, creativity and pursuit of perfection he learned in his musical studies to his current work as a studio furniture maker.
