This fluid wood sculpture ripples across the wall with a dramatic flourish. The artist hand cuts layers of Baltic birch and wenge wood or bubinga, then meticulously stacks them together before carving and sanding the final form. The color is the natural color of the wood, and the piece has a protective clear tung oil and urethane finish. Can be hung in any orientation.

"I am intrigued by forms that are asymmetrical and flowing. In each piece, I strive to capture the flow and movement of nature that I find in flowing water, desert canyons, and mountains."

Kerry Vesper approaches every wood piece he makes as a piece of sculpture. Inspiration comes from his home in the landscapes of the desert Southwest. He equates his methods of layering and then shaping wood to the way nature builds up layers of earth and then shapes it with wind and water.

Vesper cuts out layers of plywood and solid woods. He stacks and glues them together to approximate the shape he intends to create. His work is not turned on a lathe. He shapes each piece by hand with carving, grinding, and sanding tools and finishes them with a clear tung oil varnish. The color, texture, and feel of wood appeals to the artist as does no other medium.

Stunning!

We ordered the Jive and absolutely love it!! We tried it on several walls but ultimately decided on a bigger wall as we felt it needed space around it. Everyone who has seen it has commented on what a gorgeous piece it is. Love, love love!

Love it

We are so tthrilled with this wood sculpture. It actually looks nicer than the photo. I never thought about how the different curves would play against each other when you walk across the room, but it looks great from every angle.
We got to meet Kerry Vesper and he is every bit as wonderful as the art he creates. I am hoping we can go back for a bowl at least , or one of his amazing tables!

Natural beauty revealed by talented hands

Having ordered products from 'artful home' for several years, I have never been disappointed or had any regrets. This Bubinga Jive had me admiring, frequently stopping to view online, then becoming the first item to check, until finally, I gave in and couldn't wait for it to arrive at my door. More expensive than I would have preferred, but the thrill of seeing it full size, enlarged, then in person ... it was stunning ... and well worth the price! I give credence to reviews, and if you are imagining this is a "gusher" of a review or over the top - it is not. The type/quality of the woods chosen are nothing short of inspiration / the detail and workmanship are extraordinary to the extend that I wish it could be viewed 10 inches from everyone's face. Am now in last stages of moving into a new home, and go ahead, think I'm crazy, but I designed the layout of my living room around the placement of this lovely work of art. Thank you so much, it is truly lovely!

Beautiful piece

I'm a woodworker, but more carpenter than artist. Still, I love wood. Kerry's work is gorgeous and amazing. Looks great on the wall. One issue: we have a pin light on this wall, and the sculpture is about six inches deep, so is throws a significant shadow. I'll need to move the light and/or soften it. This is hanging in my law office.
