Mariel Waddell and Alexi Hunter

Mariel Waddell and Alexi Hunter

Kingston Glass Studio
"We thoroughly enjoy the glassblowing process because it combines mental creativity with the physical nature of working hot glass into simple forms, and then altering them with a variety of detail."

Working as a husband-and-wife team, Mariel Waddell and Alexi Hunter bring their unique artistic perspectives to their shared work. Mariel was raised in Trinidad and Tobago, while Alexi was raised on a farm in Ontario—places that continue to inspire their work.

Waddell and Hunter use a variety of glassblowing and other hot-working techniques to create their work.

Both artists graduated from the Crafts and Design Program at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. Following their educational training, the artists were offered a partnership at the Kingston Glass Studio and Gallery, where they create both individual works and collaborative pieces.
