This sumptuous yet lightweight jacket wows with its fully reversible design and exquisite hand-dyeing. On one side, an intriguing reticulated pattern is created using shibori dyeing techniques, while the other side features a subtle ombré gradient. Sewn in India using traditional kantha quilting techniques and all-over embroidery.

Born in southern Japan, Mieko Mintz uses handcrafted textiles from around the world to make contemporary pieces. Her signature line includes jackets made from vintage sari kantha, each with its own variety of colors and its own story.

Mintz's work follows in the kantha tradition. First, her designs are made into kantha throws in West Bengal, which she then cuts to fit her jacket designs. Her focus is a kantha line that is not only comfortable, but also contemporary and sophisticated.

Cuttings left over from making the jackets are recycled one more time to create hats, bags, and jewelry.

Stunning and lightweight!

This is the perfect business topper for the HOT California evenings! It is beautifully made and true to size (unlike other MM items I have tried). So happy with this purchase! Worth every penny. Will be a "lifer" in my closet!

Beware - jacket may differ markedly from online depiction

I am a fan of the exquisite craftsmanship of MIntz's kantha stitching and I was prepared to love this newest purchase. However, the back of the jacket I received - the side with a transition from light to dark fabric, pale blue-gray to deep blue-gray - is very different from the website's photograph. On mine, the light color occupies the majority of the back's width, and the back is simply not pleasing to look at.

I caution purchasers to realize that the product they receive may differ significantly from what is pictured. This is the challenge of ordering one-of-a-kind items.

The jacket is also very lightweight, almost flimsy. I am hoping it will not look frumpy when worn.

Based on pictures of this jacket I thought it was thicker material. The one I received is very thin. The print is beautiful, but it is too thin for me. Sorry, it is not as I expected. I had to return it. Too bad.

A stunning jacket

The fabrics, design and quality craftsmanship of Mieko Mintz's pieces is just amazing. I only wish she made more of her pieces in plus sizes. I now own this jacket and a vest.
