Champleve enamel and sterling silver earrings. These earrings are hand fabricated and then cast in sterling silver. The enamel is inlaid and fired several times in a kiln, building up multiple fine layers to achieve a rich coloration. After firing is complete, the enamel is ground off of the exposed silver surfaces. The sterling is oxidized, steel brushed and rubbed with pumice and the enamel is etched to a matte finish.1.3"L, .75"W.

"I create jewelry inspired by ancient strata of exposed rock as seen in the gorges that I love and live by." "

Jewelry designer Carly Wright has worked with stone, both as inspiration for her organic, contemporary jewelry, and also as a stone mason. The ancient layers and crevasses of sedimentary rock provide endless inspiration and impart serenity to her work, as does the laying of stone upon stone to form an architecture in the landscape.

Wright uses the enameling technique of champleve, firing fine granules of glass into recessed areas that are created with layers of sterling silver. Each piece is fired from 3 to 30 times in a kiln and ground smooth. The sterling silver is oxidized and steel brushed. Her enamel surfaces are etched to a soft matte finish.

She received a B.F.A. degree from Empire State College and continued with additional studies focused on the art of enameling at the Penland School of Crafts.
