Mel Sage

Sage Woodworks
"I create in order to share with the world not only artwork that I devote my life to, but also to give a piece of myself to each person that is moved by it."

Out of Mel's deep desire to connect people to all the magnificence that nature has to offer, coupled with her background in architecture, Mel established Sage Woodworks. Every creation offers a fresh take on site models commonly used in architectural practices. Mel's pieces mimic landscapes and seascapes as they rise and fall and aim to transform and enhance any space.

Mel uses baltic birch and maple to craft her pieces. Each one is first designed digitally and then laser cut, hand painted and assembled in her wood shop studio.

Beginning her career as an Architect, Mel was trained in digital fabrication techniques during her years in architecture school. Mel has a degree in architecture and business from Clemson University. Since leaving the field to work as an artist full time roughly three years ago, Mel has begun to master the wood shop.
