Studio Azzariti
"Making satisfies an unyielding urge to research, problem-solve, learn, and take risks, and there is no better material than clay for that. Humbling, challenging, responsive, and sensorial, clay engages both my hands and my mind. "

Jennifer Azzariti’s ceramics hold significance beyond their everyday function—butter dishes that bring ceremony to the countertop, “hoodie hooks” that animate both clothes and imaginations, cake toppers that elevate the candle as well as the occasion. Her work feels familiar yet unexpected, existing in the space between utility and sculpture, where daily use becomes a small act of celebration.

Azzariti’s practice is grounded in decades of exploration across materials and techniques, borrowing from the languages of fiber, metal, and collage. Her work is hand-built in porcelain. She makes her own glazes, and fires to ^6 in oxidation. She is inspired by Wedgwood's Jasperware, and often incorporates colored clay and sprigs cast from found objects, bringing a layered history to her work.

Jennifer Azzariti has over 30 years as an atelierista, sharing her passion for materials with children and adults. A handbuilding class 13 years ago reignited her interest in clay. After a year-long sabbatical, she graduated from the Minnesota New Institute for Ceramic Education (2023) and upon her return transformed her DC garage into an alley studio overlooking Rock Creek Park.
