Megan Ilene

"I create clothes you feel good wearing. Clothes that are comfortable, personal and safe for Earth's reclamation."

Megan Lagueruela has been drawing since before she could talk. Once she found her preferred medium, textiles, there was no turning back. After college she became disheartened by the unsustainable, throw-away nature pervasive in fashion today. She strives to bring balance, quality and comfort to an industry overwhelmed by trends.

Each piece is individually cut, sewn and dyed by hand. Megan-Ilene's specific dye patterns are achieved through a myriad of dying techniques using natural and synthetic dyes; including earth pigments such as ocher and soot. No two pieces will ever look alike due to the abstract, painterly way Megan applies her dyes.

Megan graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelors degree in Fine Art and Design, concentration in Fashion/Fibers. After graduation, she moved back to North Carolina and became immersed in the deep history of weaving in the Appalachian Mountains. This connection to history has led to her exploration of current and historical textiles for the body and home.
