Champleve enamel and sterling pendant inspired by the stone walls of Aran Island. Fabricated then cast with a matte finish enamel and oxidized sterling silver.

Pendant measures 1.6"L, 1.25"W.

Jewelry designer Carly Wright has worked with stone, both as inspiration for her organic, contemporary jewelry, and also as a stone mason. The ancient layers and crevasses of sedimentary rock provide endless inspiration and impart serenity to her work, as does the laying of stone upon stone to form an architecture in the landscape.

Wright uses the enameling technique of champleve, firing fine granules of glass into recessed areas that are created with layers of sterling silver. Each piece is fired from 3 to 30 times in a kiln and ground smooth. The sterling silver is oxidized and steel brushed. Her enamel surfaces are etched to a soft matte finish.

She received a B.F.A. degree from Empire State College and continued with additional studies focused on the art of enameling at the Penland School of Crafts.

Soft, understated color that will go with many things. Perfect length to tuck in the "V" of a button down blouse or accent a crewneck shirt. Solid craftsmanship.

Marvelous Pendant

The Aran Island pendant is even more attractive than I expected. I like it so much I have ordered the Blue Mosaic earrings to wear with it. I plan to buy the blue version of Carly's Stone Wave pendant soon as a gift for a sea kayaker friend.
