Bunny With A Toolbelt
Hilary Pfeifer
Hilary Pfeifer runs a business from her Portland, Oregon studio called Bunny with a Toolbelt. As a craft-influenced sculptor, Hilary Pfeifer brings together years of study in many media, including woodworking and furniture design, metalsmithing, ceramics, bookbinding, letterpress, photography, fiber arts, and more. In addition to her adorable critters, Hilary also creates one-of-a-kind bird sculptures made from reclaimed hardwoods.
A dedication to creative reuse fuels much of this work, and each Bunny with a Toolbelt piece is made from over 75% upcycled wood. Hilary's technique combines carved and shaped elements, with the intent of making standalone pieces that also combine and recombine with other figures to create your own unique holiday display.
Pfeifer graduated from Oregon College of Art and Craft in 1999. Since then, she has been commissioned to create several public artworks, including an installation at the Randall Children's Hospital in Portland, OR. Her work can also be found in the permanent collections of the State of Oregon, the White House, the Museum of Art in Wood, and the Museum of Contemporary Craft. She was the subject of a feature article in the December 2013 issue of American Craft Magazine.
